Account and sign-in
Open in AI
An account keeps your folders, progress and settings in sync across all your devices. This page walks you through signing in, confirming your email, resetting your password, two-factor protection and managing your devices.
Create an account
Section titled “Create an account”Signing up takes two steps:
- Credentials – username, email address and password. Alternatively you can choose Continue with Google.
- About you – first and last name, plus your acknowledgement of the privacy notice and your agreement to the terms. The checkbox for tips by email is optional and not required to register.
Once you submit, you are signed in. If email confirmation is required, the app shows you the next step right there.
One note about the username: it cannot be changed later. First name, last name and the other profile details can be edited at any time.
Section titled “Sign in”Sign in with your email address and password. After signing in, the dashboard opens with your latest progress.
If you sign in with Continue with Google, you end up in the same account — regardless of whether it was originally created with Google or with a password.
Confirm your email address
Section titled “Confirm your email address”Some features only become available once your email address is confirmed. You can tell because the app takes you to a page headed Confirm email address.
There you can:
- Resend email – if the message never arrived.
- Check status – the app looks up whether the confirmation has come through.
- Sign out – if you signed in with the wrong address.
If the email does not arrive, check your spam folder too. After confirming you can sign in as usual.
Forgot your password
Section titled “Forgot your password”- On the sign-in page, choose Forgot your password?.
- Enter the email address of your account and request the link.
- Open the email and follow the link.
For security reasons the app does not reveal whether an account exists for a given address. After requesting, a short countdown runs before you can request again. On the page for the new password you choose your password and confirm it. If the link does not work, simply request a new one — links expire after a while.
Two-factor authentication
Section titled “Two-factor authentication”Two-factor authentication adds protection to your account. Besides your password you then need a six-digit code from an authenticator app.
Turning it on
Section titled “Turning it on”- Open Settings and, under Account, the Two-factor authentication section.
- Choose Enable MFA. Your email address must be confirmed first so the app can verify it is you.
- Show the QR code and scan it with your authenticator app. Alternatively you can enter the displayed key manually.
- Enter a current six-digit code and confirm the activation.
The protection is only active after you confirm. If you cancel before that, everything stays as it was.
Signing in with a code
Section titled “Signing in with a code”After entering your password, the app asks for the code. With Trust this device for future sign-ins you skip the question on this device from then on. That is convenient on your own device and less sensible on a shared computer.
Turning it off or changing it
Section titled “Turning it off or changing it”The app asks for a current code for any change to two-factor authentication. That way nobody can remove the protection with your password alone.
No access to the authenticator app
Section titled “No access to the authenticator app”If you have lost your device, choose No access to the authenticator app on the code prompt. The app then sends a security email and starts a reset:
- The reset only takes effect after a waiting period. Until then your account stays protected.
- As long as you are still signed in somewhere, you can cancel the request there. The app points this out the next time you open it.
- After the reset, all previous sessions are ended. You then sign in again.
Devices and sessions
Section titled “Devices and sessions”Under Account in the settings, the Devices & sessions section shows where your account is signed in. Each row shows browser and system, the last known IP address and when the session was last active.
- This session is the device you are working on right now.
- You can sign out individual sessions. Those devices then need to sign in again.
- Sign out all other sessions ends everything except your current device. This is the right move if you lost a device or forgot to sign out somewhere.
The IP address shown belongs to the network in use, not to a precise location. Older sign-ins only appear in the list after their next access; the option to sign out all other sessions still covers them.
Privacy on first start
Section titled “Privacy on first start”Before you start using the app you confirm two things separately:
- that you have read the privacy notice,
- that you agree to the terms.
Both are required to continue. In addition you can voluntarily allow tips and updates by email — that consent is not a requirement and can be withdrawn at any time. What else you can control later is described in Privacy.
Maintaining your profile
Section titled “Maintaining your profile”Under Account in the settings you edit your profile: picture, first name, last name, birthday and school level. Username and email address are read-only there.
For a profile picture you select an image, position the crop and apply it. You can re-crop or remove the picture at any time. Details on all options are in Settings.
Changing your password
Section titled “Changing your password”Under Account you find the Change password section. Enter your current password and the new password twice. While you type, you see how strong the new password is. The button only becomes active once both entries match and the password meets the minimum requirements.
Signing out
Section titled “Signing out”Use the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar to sign out. On a shared device that is the right last step — even with the trust option enabled.
Deleting your account
Section titled “Deleting your account”You can start the deletion of your account in the settings under Privacy. The app requires an explicit confirmation and signs you out afterwards. What happens during deletion and what you should back up beforehand is described in Privacy.
When something does not work
Section titled “When something does not work”- Sign-in fails. Check email address and password. After several failed attempts the app waits briefly before another try is possible.
- No confirmation email. Request it again and check your spam folder.
- Session expired. The app takes you back to sign-in and explains why. After signing in you return to where you were.
- Code is not accepted. Codes are only valid briefly. Wait for the next code in your app and make sure the device sets its time automatically.
- You are stuck. Use Support and describe where you got stuck.
